The Home Education Fair

The Home Education Fair is an opportunity to find out all about different aspects of home education: what it looks like, what research says, find a local group and meet young people who were home educated all for free!

Saturday 15 September  1-5pm
Westbourne Grove Church,
Westbourne Grove
London W11 2RW (map)

(corner of Ledbury Road and Westbourne Grove)
Location is 5-10 minutes walk from Notting Hill (Central, Circle) and Westbourne Park (Hammersmith) tube stations.
Free Entry!

There will be talks by academics in the field and workshops from long term home educating parents, and for the first time a panel of young adults who were home educated will talk about what the experience meant for them. Plus there will be plenty of time to chat informally with long-term home educators and home educated young people.

Children can enjoy craft activities in the play area, while home educated young people will keep everyone supplied with tea and home-made cakes.

Well-known groups such as Education Otherwise, Choice in Education, Home Education Advisory Service and The Otherwise Club will run stalls offering information, books and leaflets - including details of the many home education groups across London and the South East.
Whether you are thinking about home education for your own family, or just want to know why more and more families are choosing it, you'll find that the Home Education Fair is the perfect place to get all your questions answered. Also this year sees the launch of International Freedom in Education Day (IFED) with events around the world to celebrate home education! We hope to have video conference link with home educators from Europe and other activities to celebrate!

The aim is to promote the idea of the importance of free choice in education, and to spread information about the alternative ways of learning that are available, or are being fought for in various countries.

The focus will be on Home Education, but we also welcome alternative and free schools to take part in this global event.

The interest is increasing in Europe and internationally. Events related to IFED may take place throughout the whole month of September. Still, on September the 15th, we plan to have many events celebrating Freedom in Education simultaneously in many countries all over the world.
